The UK’s first cryptocurrency hackathon is been announced and is due to get underway in London on 28 and 29 June.
HackCoin hopes to drum up local support for the digital currency movement with the two-day event giving a platform to entrepreneurs and coders alike, whether participants want to “build a business in digital currency or just want to have fun coding over a weekend,” according to a press release.
Following in the footsteps of its highly successful counterparts in the USA and Canada, HackCoin will be pioneering for the UK and organizers, hailing from Diacle, Nascence and IamSatoshi, are confident of a “highly sought-after event.”
“We have VCs, Angels, funds and Incubators ready to invest in your idea if it’s awesome,” the press release further states, while the website echoes, “The aim of HackCoin is also to catalyze investment into the digital currency startup community.”

The event has already garnered some noteworthy sponsorship in Mastercoin, Seedcoin and Coinscrum, as well as outside investment firm Ariadne Capital, whose director of corporate finance Stuart Poyser will be present along with four others to judge the final entries.
The cryptocurrency space in the UK is growing slowly, and it is safe to say that the country’s expanding infrastructure make it an exciting environment in which to get involved. More information on HackCoin can be found here.
